The Recovery Tour

If you're a PHT&C "regular," you'll know that this upcoming tour of Southern California on February 18th & 19th is going to be something special — it's the Recovery tour in more ways than one. If you've never joined us before, you're in for an eye-opening educational experience — the most fun you've ever had picking up hundreds of profitable ideas for your business.

This will be a variety tour, featuring a little bit of everything (as opposed to our High-Density only or Luxury only tours). Over two days you will see 15 communities and more than 50 decorated models.

The tour theme is recovery . . . as in . . . What will this housing recovery look like in terms of product, price, amenities, interest rates and market segmentation? Is the recovery sustainable? Are we headed for a double dip? We'll explore where the national and Southern California markets have been in the last 3 chaotic years, and more importantly, where they are heading now.

Almost every builder and developer in Southern California stopped building entirely during the last two years, and it has been nearly three years since any significant new product has come to the marketplace. During that time, builders spent an enormous amount of time, research and money studying the marketplace and consumer, and you'll get to see the fruits of their labor firsthand.

Here are a few highlights . . .

  • 15 unique communities with more than 50 decorated models
  • Incredible variety, from condos to townhomes to mixed-use, entry-level detached, move-up, luxury (and even a highrise!)
  • Value engineering is back with a vengeance (how to squeeze out the waste without cutting out the pizzazz)
  • Densities from 2.5 units/acre to 50+/acre
  • A detached townhome project that approaches 35 units/acre (that's right, 35 units/acre detached
    — with no HOA!)
  • Great architecture inside and out, from the country's leading architects and builders
  • Great merchandising, from the always fun luxury stops to the much more challenging starter home installations (one luxury stop offers 7 floorplans featuring 7 different interior design firms!)
  • The latest in green building and solar applications
  • Southern California weather! Escape the winter chill for a few days (it's 75 degrees here in Southern California!) Stay over a night or two and turn your trip into a tax-deductible mini vacation. Where else can you snow ski in the morning just an hour from the hotel, and surf in the afternoon?
  • 2 nights deluxe accommodations at The Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel, located on the border of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, CA, only 5 minutes from John Wayne Airport. The hotel features a wonderful spa, and is connected by pedestrian bridge to the South Coast Plaza shopping center, one of the largest upscale retail centers in the country. It's adjacent to the Performing Arts Center of Orange County, one of the largest and most beautiful facilities of its kind, and is within walking distance of dozens of the finest restaurants in the county. A ten minute cab ride connects you to hundreds more shops and restaurants up and down the coast.
